We’re on the lookout for a Civils Operations Manager to join our dynamic team in Uddingston and lead the development of a brand-new civils division within the business.

This is a unique opportunity to build something from the ground up—establishing a skilled team, shaping the direction of our civils offering, and making a real impact across our expanding portfolio of utility projects.

The Role

As Civils Operations Manager, you'll take ownership of all civils works carried out by Emtec Utility Services, ensuring everything is delivered to the highest standards. You'll:

• Lead and manage all civils operations across active projects.
• Engage with existing and potential clients to expand our reach.
• Review tenders to ensure they meet client and company standards.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.
• Support contractors and clients with technical and procedural expertise.
• Mentor, guide, and develop a high-performing civils team.
• Oversee street works activities and ensure proper management.
• Work closely with our commercial team to maximise project profitability.
• Champion a safety-first culture and uphold SHEQ best practices.
• Keep up to date with current legislation and industry standards.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for a natural leader and problem-solver with a solid background in civils and utilities. You’ll ideally bring:

• A proven track record in senior operations management (utilities or civil engineering).
• In-depth knowledge of civil engineering practices and utility infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape
• Confidence in dealing with clients and stakeholders at all levels
• A proactive and organised approach to planning and delivery
• Excellent communication, leadership, and people management skills
• Experience managing site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools
• A full UK driving licence (essential)

It Would Be a Bonus If You Also Have…

• SMSTS, CSCS Black Card, or an equivalent site management qualification
• A relevant degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline
• Experience working in highly regulated environments such as Utilities, Highways, Energy, or Rail
