Job title: Senior Solar Design Engineer
Location: Uddingston
Are you an experienced Electrical or Solar Design Engineer? if so, this is your chance to work on some of the UK’s most exciting large scale renewable energy projects where you will see your designs come to life.
You’ll be part of a talented, collaborative team designing commercial, industrial, and utility scale solar PV and battery energy systems from conception through to completion. Every project you touch will make a real difference to the UK’s clean energy future.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Shaping the future of clean energy: Deliver innovative design input to major renewable energy projects from concept to handover.
- Bringing ideas to life: Design commercial, industrial and utility scale solar PV installations.
- Creating with purpose: Develop electrical specifications and schematics for C&I and Utility scale solar PV and battery storage solutions.
- Championing Safety and quality: Ensure compliance with wiring regulations and industry standards
- Maximising performance: Provide precise cable calculations and optimised LV systems.
- Setting projects up for success: Provide clear and accurate technical submissions which encompass all preconstruction design information and literature.
- Turning ideas into reality: Transform site pre-installation surveys into a detailed design in line with scope, specifications and industry regulations.
What You’ll bring
- Degree / HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Skills in Electrical OM (or similar) and AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of scope of work, specifications, programs, and cost control of tender documents.
- Sound knowledge of contract conditions and obligations
- Ability to survey and report on existing buildings & infrastructure.
- Up to date with Building Regulations, Codes of Practice and Legislation.
- Practical knowledge of how electrical installations are put together.
- Can easily interpret Subcontractor and supplier proposals.
- Have a sharp eye for checking drawings for accuracy and buildability.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office (especially Word and Excel)
- Experienced in using PVSol, PVSyst and PVCase
Bonus points if you have…
- Experience in technical compliance i.e. NTP (nominated technical Person), NICEIC QS.
- An understanding CDM requirements and Principal Designer duties.
